For the installation at the Gallery of Modern Art, the Beatitudes were written on a circular piece of vellum, in a style which imitated a medieval manuscript.

The vellum was suspended from the ceiling above a bowl placed on the floor.

Video images were projected into the bowl of a 'foot-washing event' which took place at Strathclyde University Chaplaincy in February 2000.

Around thirty people came to the event. We washed each other's feet following Genesis 18:4,

'Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet and rest yourseves under the tree'

and John 13:14

'Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.'
